1941

Release of the first set of Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA's) following Roosevelt's call for the National Nutritional Conference for Defence – similar to Steibling (1939) with the addition of niacin and vitamin D.

The first recommendations of the US National Research Council (1941) were produced to maintain perfect health. The aim was "buoyant health," the building up of our people to a level of health and vigour never before attained or dreamed of."
